So, you’re on Twitch and you’re trying to figure out how to follow someone because you like their content…
You’re in the right place.
We’ll show you how you can do just that within a few seconds.
But what about unfollowing someone on Twitch?
After a while, you might find better streamers or just get sick of seeing someone’s content.
That’s easy too, and it’s your right as a viewer. 🙂
In this article, we’ll show you how to do both (and why you should consider either).
How to Follow on Twitch
Desktop
To follow someone on Twitch via desktop, simply navigate to their channel and click the purple follow button with a heart.
In this example, I followed Hera because I love me some AOE.
Once you do that simple action, the person you follow will appear on your “Followed Channels” sidebar.
This will make it easy to watch their content and you’ll start getting notifications when they post new content.
Mobile
Unfollowing on Twitch via the mobile app is the same process, just with a different interface.
Simply navigate to a stream you want to follow then click the purple “Follow” button (this time without a heart).
Once you do, you’ll see their content on your home feed whenever they’re live.
How to Unfollow on Twitch
Desktop
To unfollow someone on Twitch via desktop, simply navigate to their channel and click the heart button.
When your cursor hovers over the heart it will turn into a broken heart. When you click, you have successfully unsubscribed.
(I’m gonna follow Hera back since this was just an example…I love me some AOE.)
Mobile
Unsurprisingly, this process is very similar on mobile.
Just navigate to the streamer’s channel who you want to unfollow and click the black heart in the gray box (no, you don’t have a black heart for unfollowing someone…don’t worry).
(Again, not actually unfollowing an AOE 2 channel … no freakin’ way.)
Reasons to Follow Someone on Twitch
This is pretty obvious, you want to follow whose content you like.
Doing so makes it easier for you to find their streams and gives you notifications about new content.
But there’s another reason to follow streamers you love that you might not know…
Streamers have the option to turn their chat on “follower only” mode which only allows followers to send messages.
So, you gotta follow channels you love.
You just gotta.
If you want to take the next step with a streamer you really like, you can also consider subscribing to their channel.
This will give you even more perks, ranging from emotes, chats, sub streaks, and more.
Reasons to Unfollow Someone on Twitch
Obvious again…
You unfollow people because you’re sick of ‘em.
You don’t care about their content anymore, don’t like them anymore, the streamer’s schedule doesn’t line up with yours, the streamer stopped engaging, or you simply found a better streamer in the category who you like more.
Don’t overthink it.
This is about you!
If you don’t like a channel anymore just unfollow it.
It feels amazing to have so much power, doesn’t it?
If you think you made a mistake after unfollowing someone, just follow ‘em back.
Simple as that. This isn’t a life or death situation.
Most streamers, especially big ones, won’t even notice that you unfollowed them. Only small streamers would notice such things.
If you decide you still want to follow someone but you don’t care to see their content, you also have the option of turning off notifications by going to their channel and clicking the bell icon.
This won’t remove them from your feed, though.
Which Twitch Channels Will You Follow and Which Will You Dump?
I recommend following a select few streamers who you REALLY love.
There’s not a specific number or anything—I just like keeping things lean so I can very easily find content I want to watch.
The more people you follow, the crazier your feed gets.
So, now that you know with 100% certainty how to follow (and how to unfollow) someone on Twitch, you have decisions to make.
